Google Search Dominance by Answering Popular Questions
During the 4 weeks to March 29th 2008, Google grew in the marketshare of US searches to 67.25%. This is higher than the 66.44% of February 2008. Yahoo has about 20.29% of market share and MSN takes 6.65%, both having dropped from Feb 2008.
Its true that when we want to know what's on the web, we ask Google. If I want to know how to get to a place, I ask Google Maps. If I want to put up PPC ads, I go to Google Ads. If I want to monetize my site, Adsense.
There are more stuff that Google wants to help answer.
What book should I read? - Google Book Search
What's the news of the day? - Google News
Will google not dominate the above popular questions in due time? Amazon is still the authority when it comes to the question of which books to buy, but it doesn't have that much previews into the book pages.
Google also working on, what blogs? which products to buy? what video to watch?
Like the article says, will it go beyond to ask 'Where are my kids? or 'What is my sickness?'. If knowledge is power, than Google is working towards demi-god status.
Other questions of interest are:-
Who can I hook up with?
Where can I go for holidays?
