What are Online Consumers Researching?

In my previous blog, I have cited a consumer report that there is a growing number of online consumers who have been honing their skills researching for high ticket items as well as everyday purchases online. The trend has started as the recession takes its rein on the economy last holiday season. During the 2008 holiday shopping season, we have seen a spike in the coupon redemption for online sales. Consumers deftly moved between sites and tried different online shopping tactics.
Coping up with the new economic realities, this trend has continued deep into 2009 as many of these online shoppers had started to employ their researching skills when making their everyday purchases. These value shoppers are researching anything from product quality, price comparison, unique gifts, good bargain and when to time their purchases. Thus, there is now an unprecendented popularity of coupon sites, price comparison sites, consumer reviews and consumer communitities.
These online shopping skills are likely to stick with them on the long term basis. We will likely see entrepreneurs going into new innovations of providing and filtering deals, coupons, offers and product evaluation. Tapping of social media would likely be on the way to reach out to this group of people.
As online marketer, you would be in a good position if you start to think as these value shoppers do. I hope this article can prepare you in planning for your campaigns in the coming months.
