Job Opportunity: Affiliate Managers

Posted on 17 March 2009 in Affiliate Marketing by Ronald Allan Marva, Affiliate
As affiliate marketing continues to defy the down-hill trend of the economy, the demand for affiliate managers is continuing to grow.

The reason behind is that many brick and mortar companies had started to make their presence online due to its low operations cost and promising revenue prospect. As all these companies flock into the cyber world, the demand for online professionals had increased as well. Affiliate Marketing is one of the strategies that is on the top list of these new online companies.

For those already in the affiliate profession, this is a great news. However, with a high demand there is a current shortage in experienced affiliate managers. This has caused a strain in the current labor force.  Many of those with solid experience had started to manage several programs instead of dedicating to one or two programs.  This also forced some online companies to consider hiring affiliate marketing apprentices due to lack of qualified prospects. The latter circumstance had proven to be beneficial for those with related skills such as marketing, advertising, sales and SEO.

Affiliate management profession does not require an individual of Einstein's caliber. Good people management, web savvy and marketing skills are the usually enough as minimal qualification to manage a program. This makes it a viable option for those who are planning to change careers. Most works are done online or through the phone so many career's variable requirements had already been eliminated. Also, there is no government license required to practice the profession. If you feel the need to get a certification as an Affiliate Manager, you can enrol through online Affiliate Management courses and be certified in just few months.

Affiliate Marketing industry is a new and growing industry. This opens the door to many professionals in other fields to test the waters and see how they would do in the industry. It is a very challenging career and I encourage everyone who believe they can grow in this industry to check it out. Who knows- this might be the career for you.

There's one problem [?] with Affiliate marketing and that is, it can be 'all-consuming', especially for those with families. Counting the cost and weighing the time allotted to 'each' area of your life takes a commitment - to self and family. About Affiliate Management: I am just starting into this field after years of study and practice. You are right about this area opening up, in fact, it's "huge" right now. But, it does take knowledge and commitment, especially to/for the 'company' who hires you. This is not a 'light' thing. This can make or break one's reputation - in a wink.
