To make the most of these forums and message boards, it is necessary that you participate in productive way, that is, you try exhibit yourself as resource person. Many publishers recognize such authority figure and would not hesitate to follow their program. On the other hand, posting comments just for the sake of having something to say may reflect negatively. It is also important that you read and follow rules of these message boards platform as you can receive infraction due to ignorance.

Make good use of the account profile, signature links and linkbacks. Many publishers do check these information. Personally, I gained many contacts and businesses through these message boards' contact information.
