Microsoft Offers Cashback To Shoppers

Microsoft's new Live Search Cashback is shopping comparison with a twist - it gives you money back - which effectively makes it both a shopping comparison and coupon site.
The new site is based on Jellyfish.com's Smack Shopping system, which the software giant acquired last year.
It's interest in Yahoo's search engine is no secret, and it's clear where the Redmond based company is headed - to dethrone Google at search.
Previously, Microsoft has offered incentives to its users via the Live Search Club that offered prizes to users who play their online games. And it seems to be working as their market share increased 3% since May 2007.
Cashback's business model is also more attractive to advertisers, using a CPA system instead of Google's CPC, which doesn't guarantee results.
How will traditional comparison sites keep up? Probably offer the same or better incentives, which is all the better for consumers. One thing's for sure, we can expect to see many more incentivised services from Microsoft in the future.
And so the search war continues.
