Do You Need a Website to be Successful as an Affiliate?

You might be one of the online marketing newbie who had been dilly dallying on venturing into affiliate venture. One of the reasons why many people like you remain hesitant is the notion that having no website is a serious impediment in marketing affiliate products. Admittedly, investing money on a website does take a chunk in your budget. A short list of usual expenses on website set up includes domain registration, hosting fee,  website design/template, and promotion expenses. All these expenses do not guarantee your site’s traffic that would click and purchase on your affiliate ads.

Giving such consideration,  is having a website necessary in affiliate marketing or not?

In my experience in affiliate marketing, I see many people enjoying huge success in affiliate marketing even without a website. Actually, you can really start promoting and marketing affiliate products even without a website; and there exist many ways on how this can be done.

There are many affiliate marketing strategies that opens the way to earning online even without a website. Among these strategies are email marketing, twitter, social networking, writing ezines/ebooks and engaging in online discussions like forums, chats, message boards and others. There is also a number of free blogging services where you can post articles and reviews on selected your niche and incorporate your affiliate links on them to generate a sale. If you are knowledgeable on Search Marketing, you can also link directly to the merchant stores when making your PPC campaign (note however that you have to be mindful of advertisers or merchants’ PPC or bidding restrictions).

Some of the actual strategies that I see generating revenues for affiliates without websites are:

1. Search marketing /PPC for merchants who allow direct linking to their site.

2. Sponsored listing at Facebook, Shopping.com, Amazon, etc.

3. Signature links

4. Using social network tools like affiliate links on videos, status message and tweets.

5. Recommending affiliate products on your ezine, ebooks and blogs.

6. Sending emails to your email contacts and recommending affiliate products that you think would be of use to them.

There are definitely many ways to generate affiliate revenue without website. While not having their own website does not pose as handicap for some affiliates, it is still recommended that serious individuals start to build their own website as soon as they start to generate income from their affiliate campaigns. Having a website creates more opportunities for you in affiliate marketing.

As a newbie, you can plan your growth in affiliate marketing one step at a time. So give it a try and see if you can get some rewards using the strategies above.
