Blogging With No Budget? Use Blogger

There are hundreds, if not thousands of blog services out there, each with its pros and cons.

Oh sure, Wordpress is great, but the free version won't let you customize your page, let alone serve ads. And hosting is going to cost you.

Other services are free, but there will be some compromise. Restricted access to make changes, unwanted ads (that will not contribute to your coffers), and ugly logos that make your blog look amaturish and just like everyone else's.

Here's why Blogger is still the best free blog service:

  1. Full Access - You have full control of the blog source code, enabling you to do anything to the site. You can remove the annoying Blogger bar, install plug-ins, and totally change the layout of your blog. Disqus, for example, is a tool that will enable threaded comments and have them load on the same page. No more opening up comments in a new page or pop-up boxes.
  2. Custom Publishing - You can integrate your domain name directly into blogger and have your posts published with your domain name instead of the blogspot.com default. All the files are hosted on blogger, and all you have to pay for is the domain name.
  3. Huge Storage - You have 1GB of storage space, and you don't have to worry about bandwidth overload.
  4. User Friendly - Even if you don't know anything about HTML, posting and customizing your blog is a breeze. Everything is drag and drop, there's a full WYSIWYG editor at your disposal and posts are automatically saved every so often.

That said, if you're a budding affiliate with a tight budget, with some easy tweaks on Blogger, you can have a professional looking site for free (exclusing domain name costs).

Well, it's a short term solution that's better suited for testing waters, gaining experience and skill and first time dabblers into affiliate marketing. With people's busy schedules these days, and especially for those that has a job, it may take a while to learn. Potentially, you might mess up alot in regards to SEO and some might possibly get warning letters of copywrite infringements of warning emails from merchants due to some overlooked terms and conditions. But hey, it's just a sandbox site. If it earns you some money, great. If not, you can throw it away and get serious on a proper domain name and hosting.
